Struggling for a gift idea?

We all struggle with buying gifts sometimes, no matter what the occasion is, mostly because we’re so determined to give that special person something they will really like (or even better, something they will LOVE). In the end, no matter how much we acknowledge the fact that the non-materialistic gifts are what really matter, the material ones play a huge role as well. After all, who doesn’t like to be gifted? A tangible, usable, wearable, edible, sniff-able, spendable gift can fill any person with joy and, of course, many businesses flourish on this unquestionable truth.
I personally feel that one of the nicest gifts you can give someone you know very well is something that is ‘practical’. About 6 months ago, I had an amazing discovery; something that has impacted my life positively. I discovered what I consider to be the best pillow I’ve ever slept on! Yes, yes, a pillow. But this is not any ordinary pillow. It’s a special pillow.
The brand is TEMPUR and they sell beds, mattresses, pillows, and other accessories. The material that TEMPUR makes their products “was originally developed in the early 1970’s at NASA’s Ames Research Center, to relieve the pressure build up from the G-force experienced by astronauts during lift off. These pressure relieving properties are now what make TEMPUR Mattresses and pillows offer the perfect rest for your body.” You can read more about what makes their products so special right here.

I remember every time I woke up during the first week of sleeping on my brand new pillow  thinking: WOW, mashala! I don’t remember sleeping this deep before! I can honestly say that the quality of my sleep has improved drastically, il7imdila, and I believe I even toss & turn so much less than before. I love this pillow so much that I told almost everyone I know about it. My new pillow, my new pillow, my new pillow was my talk of the month. :P You have no idea how much I struggled to find the right one prior to this discovery. And you know what? I never realized how important that little accessory-to-sleep (aka pillow) is until I experienced the TEMPUR pillow. It’s actually not an accessory-to-sleep anymore, but more like a Hero-of-great-sleep.
TEMPUR makes a different pillow to suit your individual sleep position and preferences. Since I’m a side-sleeper with preference to medium pillow thickness, my choice is The SONATA Pillow. For me, the rounded design on the bottom gives great support to my neck and shoulder, as I used to wake up with pain in that area some days due to bad pillow choices in the past. I bought mine from The Bed Shop in Hawally for KD40. It’s pricy for a pillow, but honestly the perks makes it PRICELESS. It comes with a 3 year warranty as well.
So back to my initial subject matter—gifts. For a close person you care about, what’s more practical (and yes, more valuable) than what I like to call “the gift of quality sleep”? It’s as special and as practical as it gets! :)

Today I feel beautiful!

As I was walking to my car from Jothen in Salmiya this afternoon, Red Tag was next door so I decided to check it out. I believe that no matter what the place is, if you explore it properly, you're bound to find at least one little interesting thing. And I was right! Next to the cups 'n plates 'n mugs, there was this one pretty mug that caught my attention. First of all it's purple; my favorite color. Second of all, it has this pretty little mood-lifting quote on it. And third of all, I love where this quote is located! It's so creatively placed in the inside of the mug and is visible with every sip. I bought one for my aunt as a simple Mother's Day gift and one for myself. Now every time we take a sip out of our mugs, we'll get a little mood-lifting reminder. ;)

The mug cost KD1.300 only!

Sweet Discovery

At the Avenues today, LadyB introduced me to Morelli's Gelato. It's located in Phase 1's food court. I got a scoop of the Kinder flavor and a Mango. One word: YUMMY! It was so flavorful and creeeamy. The Kinder had these little chunks of actual Kinder chocolate teasing my taste buds. And the Mango was so rich and tasty. I loved them both and will definitely go back there for more! Hopefully not too frequently though. :P

Thanks B! :*

Inspiration..

During our hangouts, my friend LadyB and I are always sharing things with each other, like a new product or dessert or things we heard or know etc. We enjoy sharing our discoveries and experiences and I find that many of the things she introduces me to are very useful. So while we were out today, I decided that I want to start a blog to share some of my favorite things. I thought of calling it “Things I like" then she started singing "These are a few of my favorite things" from the Sound of Music and it clicked!

So ladies & gentlemen, today marks the birth date of a blog named "A few of our favorite things". Why our..? Well, that's because I decided to invite my good friend Joe to be my blog partner. So here we are and here are some of our favorite things. :) Stay tuned..
